The longest Slovenian river has shaped the lives of surrounding inhabitants for centures and anchored itself in the souls of men. One of such examples is Litija, which was founded precisely because of Sava - well situated next to the river it was a waystation for many important trade routes that ran through here, be it on the river or beside it. An unquenchable source of the waters of Sava enabled the development of river traffic in the past - up until the midst 19th century boatmanship, ferrying, and various other crafts provided the local inhabitants their daily bread. Today however remnants of these once so lively activities have all but disappeared. How do we see the river, our quiet and mostly unnoticed "co-citizen", today? Are we able to exploit its natural gifts for the needs of Litija's inhabitants? How much is Sava a part of Litija's citizens' lives today?
