Oroslav Jurij Caf was a world-wide known scholar. For over 20 years he was a chaplain in our small village at the foot of Pohorje, and with linguistic activities he enriched our national heritage. This were his most fruitful years when, among other things, he brought the first Slavic reading room to our village, and for the first time used the Slovenian name Fram. Dr. Pavel Turner, another giant of Fram's history, was baptized by Oroslav Caf, and as a boy taught by him in Sunday school. Together with the teacher Franc Domanjko they transformed a poor peasant boy into a world-renowned personality who cried out for knowledge and sought wisdom at school as well as in church. As a great scholar he spoke many languages and passed his knowledge to aristocratic families all over the world as an eternal traveller Ahasuerus, as he addressed himself. Over the years, he earned a lot of wealth, which, as a patron, he gave to poor students, some of it was meant for charity, and after his death he donated it to a special scholarship fund for the best graduates across Europe.
