In the last four decades, Slovenj Gradec, especially with events and exhibitions at the Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts and under the auspices of the United Nations, has established itself far beyond the borders of the homeland as a city of peace. As a Peace Messenger City Slovenj Gradec promotes the idea of a less violent and more humane world, a world in which tolerance and mutual respect prevail. For the past 20 years, in the city center of Slovenj Gradec, a traditional Peace Festival, where NGO, humanitarian and other societies and schools from Slovenia and abroad present their activities, has been held. The festival connects the idea of non-violence with the topics and ideas of social responsibility, relations in urban public space and social inclusion. The goal is to establish constructive relations between individuals and responsible community. We are pleased to invite you to join this year at the already 20th traditional Peace Festival, with which we will also mark the Year of Cultural Heritage. The festival, together with the 11th Festival of Diversity, will take place on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10 am on the Main Square (Glavni trg) in Slovenj Gradec. This year's Mirovni Festival under the joint title »Our Heritage: where the past meets the future« will be composed of various contents that will also be connected with the World Peace Day - September 21st. As is customary, free stands will be available on the site, near the main stage, for the presentation of the activities of individual societies, clubs, schools and other organizations and individuals. The event will encompass musical performances, children's performances and entertaining and educational creative workshops. On the same day, at 11 am in the atrium of the Rotenturn Manor and in the premises of the Carinthian Gallery of Fine Arts, the opening of an exhibition of original art and literary works and photographs and the awarding of prizes to the winners of the competition, announced by the Municipality of Slovenj Gradec in cooperation with the Carinthia Gallery of Fine Arts will be held.
