The archival network in Slovenia consists of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia (Arhiv Republike Slovenije) as the central national archival institution, six public regional archives, and three archives of the Roman Catholic Church. According to data from the end of 2013, the public archives hold about 70,500 running meters of written records and another few thousand running meters of other archival material (plans, charts and maps, films, photographs, microfilms, audio and video recordings, etc.). The holdings are arranged into 11,411 archival fonds and collections. In addition, the Church archives hold about 2,300 running meters of archival material in 1,152 fonds and collections. The representative exhibition of archival cultural heritage was held in collaboration with all Slovenian regional and Church archives: the Koper Regional Archives (Pokrajinski arhiv Koper), Maribor Regional Archives (Pokrajinski arhiv Maribor), Nova Gorica Regional Archives (Pokrajinski arhiv v Novi Gorici), Celje Historical Archives (Zgodovinski arhiv Celje), Ljubljana Historical Archives (Zgodovinski arhiv Ljubljana), Ptuj Historical Archives (Zgodovinski arhiv na Ptuju), Archiepiscopal Archives in Ljubljana (Nadškofijski arhiv Ljubljana), Archiepiscopal Archives in Maribor (Nadškofijski arhiv Maribor), and Episcopal Archives in Koper (Škofijski arhiv Koper). The material selected was arranged based on several criteria relating to genre or type, content, and function. In this manner, the following presentation groups were conceived for the material: Parchment deeds; Manuscript books (codices); Administrative material; Economic material; Judicial material; Material on culture, education, health, religion, and other social activities; Private archival material; Rent-rolls, tax books, land registers, and cadasters; Registers of births, marriages, and deaths; Slovenika – the oldest documents in Slovenian; Proclamations, posters, and leaflets; Charts and maps; Photographs and postcards; Objects and other interesting items; and Film archives. Reproductions of more than 140 documents that originate from the 9th Century to 1990 are presented on 25 panels. Every presented document is described by title, date of origin and a short description of content including also the name of the Archives preserving the original. The essential information on the displayed documents is translated into English. To enrich the reproductions presented on the panels digital projections and original records preserved by both participating Maribor Archives are displayed.
