Event description

The main theme of the Cultural Heritage Week is to learn about the cuisine and folk tradition in this area. Within their activity day students are going to visit Košak Mill in Družinska vas, a mill with a 200- year old tradition. Students will be divided in two groups, according to their section. One group will visit the old farm house that was transformed into a small museum. The hosts are going to show us the accessories that were used for baking bread in the past. Meanwhile, the other group will see the mill. The miller is going to present his profession, tell us about his family traditions and show us how flour is made from grain. Then the groups will switch. When we return to school, we will use different types of flour to knead the dough. In small groups the students will then make different kinds of baked goods. We will bake them in our Home Economics classroom. The after-school care students will prepare place settings and try out the prepared baked goods. They will drink organic tea and listen to theme-related fairytales. They will end their activity day with singing.
