»Early to bed, early to rise, and the kitchen will always be full of delicious pies« An exhibition of hand-made embroidered decorative kitchen napkins and aprons from the legacy of Domžale housewives as a reflection of the culture of living in Slovenia in the first half of the 20th century. Each embroidery has its own life story. During this exploration of Slovenian culinary heritage, we selected embroidered exhibits from the legacy of the Menačenk Homestead, the Domžale historic house museum, a former residence of a peasant and artisan family, who made a living tailoring. All of the exhibited items are part of the vast museum collection of the Menačenk Homestead. Decorative tablecloths with various humorous inscriptions and decorations skilfully embroidered on them will be a part of the exhibition as well as white aprons from former female cooks. In their kitchens, there was no shortage of cookbooks, menus, notes, and photographs from the first home economics course in Domžale (it was held back in 1912). The main purpose of the course was to raise skilled housewives, good mothers, and wives.
