Žirovnica in Gorenjska is a land of stories, with an exceptionally well-preserved legacy of folk, archaeological, natural and literary heritage. Ajdna is one of Slovenia’s most prominent archaeological sites. Excavations on this steep precipitous summit on the southern slope of Mt. Stol, have uncovered the remnants of an old walled Christian settlement, including 25 buildings and an early Cristian church from the 5th or 6th century. At the exhibition of the author ddr. Verena Vidrih Perko you can see several original and some copies of objects found on Ajdna and get to know the everyday life of our ancestors from Ajdna. The bronze bird from Ajdna, which is the central symbol of the Ajdna Museum Room exhibition in Čop's birth house in Žirovnica, invites you to explore the rich heritage of our ancestors. Course of the event Archaeological Heritage of Žirovnica: at 4 pm - choir at Konjeniška parcela KK Stol na Breznici (parking lot) Followed by a short walk along the Imperial Roads, where visitors will learn what is hidden underground in the area of the village of Rodine and enjoy the views of the landscape and fields that surround the Church of St. Mark in Vrba. Verena Vidrih Perko on the settlement of the Slavs, on the activities of St. Cyril and Methodius and the importance of their work for the expansion and preservation of Slavic languages ​​in Europe. The lecture will also present some reflections on Slovenian culture and language.
