The little explorers from Vrtca Gumbek kindergarten will embark on a true adventure to discover the world of the Gottscheers as part of the three-year project "Tradition Through the Eyes of a Child" in the next school year. Our journey will take us to the museum of Gottscheer natives, where the children will learn about fascinating exhibits and the life of the Gottscheers in the past. We will hold a workshop where children will try their hands at traditional crafts such as basket weaving or making wooden toys. A Gottscheer folk dance group will visit us, and the children will watch dances and learn the basic steps of Gottscheer folk dances together with the dancers. We will explore Gottscheer cuisine and learn to prepare the traditional dish Pobolica. The children will participate in baking and tasting, which will surely be one of the highlights of our experience. We will round off the activities with a research hike by the older groups along the paths where Gottscheer villages once stood. Along the way, we will discover natural beauties and learn about the importance of preserving cultural heritage. OBJECTIVES: - To understand that people, the environment, society, and culture change over time, - To revive cultural heritage, traditions, and customs, - To develop a favorable and respectful attitude towards cultural and natural landmarks and sites. This will be an opportunity for the children to connect with the past in an interactive and fun way and learn how the tradition of the Gottscheers is still a living part of our shared heritage. Selected activities will take place from September 30 to October 11, 2024. In an extended format, various activities related to exploring Gottscheer traditions will occur throughout the entire school year.
