Event description
Dr. Mihaela Triglav Čekada from the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia will present nearly 300-year-old carved stone boundary markers of the Carthusian Monastery of Bistra from the forests below Mount Krim. These markers still serve as officially valid boundaries for cadastral municipalities, which geodesists can use in their work. They also represent an exceptional cultural heritage that has been preserved in situ. Their preservation not only reflects the history of changing administrative boundaries over time but also sheds light on who placed them and why.
