On September 16, the Kranj City Library will open an exhibition about the life and work of Marjan Šorli, a resident of Kranj. As part of the annual »Domoznanski September« (Lokal History Month), we are including the project in the Days of European Cultural Heritage, which this year highlight architecture. Marjan Šorli is considered one of the great creators of Slovenian post-war modernist architecture. He was a Plečnik graduate who integrated his classical education into the insights and needs of modern architecture and urbanism in the post-war period. He is characterized by a responsible attitude towards social, natural and cultural-historical conditions and an authorial expression that he shaped with attention to local identity, the selection of materials and a sense of detail. He worked as an architect, urban planner, designer, educator and theorist. An important part of Šorli's oeuvre is occupied by architectural and urban projects in Kranj. Most of them are still in use. In the eyes of the people of Kranj, the skyscraper building certainly stands out, and we have written him into the collective memory as the author of the high-quality residential complex Šorlijevo naselje and by naming Šorlijeva ulica.
