Discover Restoration and Create with Monotype Printing The workshop “Discover Restoration and Create with Monotype Printing” offers pupils and other participants an engaging and creative introduction to the world of cultural heritage, art, and visual creativity. In the Church of St. Helena at Gradišče, participants learn about the work of restorers, the processes involved in preserving cultural monuments, and the importance of protecting sacred art. The activities are guided by experts from various fields from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Nova Gorica Regional Unit. While observing restored frescoes, participants explore the characteristics of mural painting, architecture, and traditional construction techniques. Through worksheets and practical activities, they take on the role of young restorers and gain first-hand insight into heritage conservation. The workshop continues in the classroom with visual arts teacher Andreja Kocjan, who introduces participants to the graphic art technique of monotype printing. Pupils learn the process of creating graphic prints, develop creativity, artistic expression, and manual skills, and produce their own unique artworks. The workshop connects cultural heritage, art history, and contemporary artistic creation in an inspiring hands-on experience.
